National Institute of Fashion Technology was founded in 1986. NIFT has emerged as the premier Institute of Design, Management and Technology, growing professionals for taking up leadership positions in fashion business in the egressing global scenario.

NIFT is a leading institute for design management and technology and conducts an entrance exam to give opportunities to the several aspirants who are interested in fashion designing courses.

The admission to NIFT programmes is made through an entrance test conducted by the institute commonly in the month of January.

The test is conducted separately for both the UG and PG programmes. NIFT is going to take an entrance exam in 2011 for various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in its upcoming session 2011-2013.

Under Graduate Course:

B.Des.

Specializations in: (Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication), B.Tech. (Apparel Production)

Post Graduate Course:

M.Des. (Master of Design), M.F.M. (Master of Fashion Management), M.FTech. (Master of Fashion Technology)

Eligibility for Master Program 2011:

Candidates must have 3 years Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in any discipline accredited by the Association of Indian Universities or Diploma in Accessory / Fashion Design / FIT from NIFT only.

Eligibility for Bachelor Program 2011:

The candidates should have passed +2 level Examinations in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognised Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary

Education, New Delhi with Physics, Chemistry and Maths or 3 or 4-years diploma recognised by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

Availability of forms for NIFT 2011

NIFT forms are anticipated to be available by November end at the fixed Axis bank Branches. NIFT form may also be obtained by sending a request for the form along with a DD in favour of NIFT, New Delhi to any of the NIFT centers.

Application Forms: 3rd week of November 2010-1st week of January 2011

Last date of Submission of Application Form: 4th week of January, 2011

Declaration of Written Examination Result: 1st week of April 2011

Written Entrance Examination: 3rd week of February, 2011

Situation Test / GD / Interviews: April – May, 2011

Declaration of Final Results (Masters programme): Mid of June, 2011

Admission process:

All candidates are short listed based on their performance in the entrance tests. Candidates for the design programs will undergo a Creative Ability Test and a General Ability Test. Technology and Management students will undergo a Managerial Ability test and General Ability Test.

Admit cards

The admit cards for provisionally eligible candidates shall be dispatched by 1st week of February 2011. In case of non-receipt of Admit Cards by mid of February 2011, the candidates can download the Admit Card from the NIFT website.
